What I Noticed at Robert Crown on Friday

Just an indoor walk in the winter

Hello Dear Ones! While the Upper Midwest has yet another blast of bitter cold, my Beloved and I have been taking refuge and going for walks on the indoor track at our local community center this past week. Today’s draft was inspired by some of the other folks on the track.

The elderly couple held hands the whole time

lap after lap at the Crown Center track.

She wore her robin's egg coat

that brushed the tops of her ankle bones.

He wore some sort of shapeless gray jacket

draped over broad shoulders tilted towards her,

following the line of his hand on hers.

(At least, in my memory that’s what he wore.

It could all be how my brain completed the category:

"Old Man Walking at the Community Center."

I know they held hands the whole time,

lap after lap after careful lap.

Walking each other home.

I guess it's true what I notice says more about me

then it does about anyone else.)
