Weekend Plans
Why not transform?
Hello Dear Ones! It has been a minute. How are you? Are you emerging from the winter with your hearts intact? Are the trees blooming where you are? Here in the upper Midwest, the blossoms are at their fullest. As I write this post, the shadows of the pink-flowered tree outside my window move over my keyboard.
The first Evanston Conscious Movement Festival has come and gone, and is currently alive in me. I have plans for next year, and plans for the future, and I hope to bring you in to some of them. Meanwhile, I’ll be writing a longer reflection on my Medium page, if you care to take a look.
Today’s draft is inspired by a text conversation with a new friend — one of those rare people who will immediately go into the deep with you.
You ask me what I am doing this weekend.
I'll tell you.
This weekend I intend to stand with my feet touching water
letting my hair blow into my eyes and the edges of my mouth.
While I stand there, I will turn my skin inside out
lay it flat in the lakefront sad.
I will examine it with lidless eyes
touch all the thinning parts and pieces.
I will step back from the water as the tide rolls in
let my skin float away like a life raft over water.
I will go forth, then, unprotected,
into the last days of early Spring.
