Viewing the Elephant
Find the whole picture
Y’all. I love elephants. I’m a bit surprised that they haven’t come up more often in these drafts. Today’s draft comes from thinking about the challenge of understanding when you don’t have the whole picture.
Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedYou already know the story of the blind folk and the elephant.I won't tell it to you again.Only tell you now that perhaps you are blessed with sightand perhaps also blessed with the ability to walkand once again blessed with memory. No more excuses.I won't hear you tell me an elephant is some kind of snake or wall or tree trunk.Take my hand and we'll walk togetherall the way around this elephantas many times as it takesto get the picture right enough to talk about.
Coming Soon: Get Up and Out of Your Head
This Saturday, I’ll be doing my “graduation” session for DANCEMandala. Assuming all goes well, after that I’ll be ready to facilitate sessions online.
DANCEMandala is a conscious dance/movement meditation practice which have found to be an invaluable tool in supporting creativity and my writing process.
Areeradh K Tri-sidda, the founder of the practice says:
DANCEmandala brings us into the flow of stillness in movement, awareness in expression, wisdom in self-knowledge, expansion in consciousness, and the mystery in the ordinary. When we connect with this flow, we become the Flow itself. And by knowing what we are, we’re better able to understand ourselves, others and our inseparable connection to nature. We cultivate life from a place of peace, inner balance, creativity and joy.
(emphasis mine)
The practice of DANCEMandala invites you to connect deeply with all the layers of your authentic self. Through movement and carefully curated music, you will be guided and held through a journey of embodied exploration.
In the practice, you are invited to use your own natural movement. No “dance training” required — just your body and your desire to access your unique inner wisdom.
In the coming weeks, I will offer a few sample sessions — about 45 minutes per session. I hope to see you there.
And — keep your eyes out for more offerings coming soon!
