Toe in the Mystical

The "what is" that comes from "what if"

The other day I was having a conversation with my partner, talking about what could be happening for the versions of ourselves in other dimensions. He asked me, “What if you followed a different path? What would be?” The first thing that came into my head was that my writing would be more overtly mystical. And so I wonder — What is the path between “what if” and “what is.”

In the six (or seventh) dimension I would be dancing,

black snake curled around my right forearm,

feet slipping around the roots of the World Tree,

touching earth and air and ether with my sensory nerves

extended beyond the boundaries of my skin.

I would be a channel --

open to what is

letting it grasp me,

fling me about,

mess up my hair,

leave me gasping and satisfied.

In this dimension I ponder

moving from subjective to Subject --

how to rewrite the rules of grammar

to turn language from obfuscation to revelation.
