Sweetness/Anger
Uncovering what lies beneath
Photo by John Noonan on Unsplash
Have you ever just gotten bone tired of “go along to get along”? Me too.
Sweetness is the mask
held arm's length from the face,
and on the face is Anger.
Anger means going away from the sight of your loved ones
to stomp and kick and throw,
to leave Anger somewhere else,
to leave Self there too.
Self lies with anger in a field somewhere,
near new, deep, jagged holes for the potato plants,
next to sunken footprints --
the reminder of the weight of a body disconnected
from a heart that yearns for connection.
Sweetness is the avatar with just enough reality
to fool you
if you don't get too close.
