Shortness of a Human Life
Another love poem
My aunt used to say that she wished she had met my uncle earlier in life so that they could have more years together. That was the inspiration for today’s draft. That, and the fact that as you receive this, my Beloved and I are promising to walk each other the rest of the way home.
Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedI could sit here and cry at the shortness of a human lifehow much of ours went by before we metleaving more years behind than ahead on our walk home. I could grieve that, if I wanted -- But autumn has touched the tree outside with red-flamed wonderthe air itself opens leaving such space to breathe in that I knoweven at the edges of existence there is such splendor in lovebeyond our wildest imaginings.
