Shadow Woman
The absence of light

Well, I never thought in my life that I would want to write a poem inspired by a Kardashian, but here we are.
If Shadow took the form of a woman and walked
it would take the form of this woman, this particular woman--
The body that launched a thousand plastic surgeries,
a hundred thousand nights of crying from the pain
of changing a natural shape so brutally.
Shadow takes the form of a woman who dresses for presentation
not for the joy and movement of her body.
Adorned with clothes that prevent the basic functions of humanity --
pissing or eating or looking into the eyes of another human being.
Trailing darkness behind
checking the headlines next morning for her own name in lights.
