Settle
Another day, another chance to mediate on it
Hello Dear Ones. I have the good fortune to be taking a couple of different classes right now, with teachers and guides who take the time to create space at the beginning with a short mediation practice. Today’s breath is inspired by their increasingly difficult task of settling a Zoom full of people who are living in the world as it is.
(P.S. Later today, I, and my friends Malik and Bill, will be putting up our last story starts of Week 1 in 500Words - A Short Story Project. I invite you to go take a look, and and vote — clap — for your choice of the best of 3. We will each expand on our winning start.)
Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedHello my loves. Let me light this candle and offer this light to you in such. a dark time. In so many spaces, what we rely on to be normal -- It just isn't. And so we come together hereunsettled by the thundering of the air conditionerstraining against our heated worldby the abrupt quietness when it quitsleaving us in our coolnessby the force of our own upheavalworking its way from inside to out. I see you, my loves, picking at the threads of your unravelingholding bits of loose thread between thumb and first fingerready to pull until you find the end.I invite you, my loves,to lay your hands in your lapand settle.Trust, that soon, the dancing of your fingers will slow, pause, and finally cease, that you will, in time, settle.
