Mnemonic

The body holds the memory

Have you ever counted your knuckles to figure out how many days are in the month? I just did, and that made me think of all the other things i can remember, just by paying attention to my body.

The delicate curve of your clavicle

against the flat edge of the sternum

is the only thing holding the whole of your arm

to the rest of your body.

This is trust --

that one small kiss of bone can be buttressed

by layers and folds of muscle and tendon

that allows your arms to reach and hold each other.

When you lay your fingers in the hollow space

underneath the end of your clavicle -- Remember --

this is how you know

you are made of trust and love and divinity.

You are engineered to reach beyond your physical being.
