Thoughts on voting
As I am writing this draft, it is the day before election day. I have voted early as I will be traveling on election day itself. I don't yet know the outcome as I write this draft -- but you do as you read it. And so this voice from the past is here to speak to you in the present. How did we do?
Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedI voted today. In my heart it felt like I spit on a forest fire.I felt the flames towering behind me as I walked awayalong the soft hiss of others, spitting in the same forest fire.We could sit in our chairs, soaked in gasoline, knowing we are outpowered in so many ways. But -- maybe -- what if --if the fire goes out somehow --Do I want to be the only onewho didn't take the time to spit? The sun on the glass doors pierced my eye ---blinded, I saw a tidal wavepoised to crash over my head.I shouted "Run!" at the people further up the hilljust as the wave consumed meleaving nothing but a voiceechoing on the waters.
